Located in Johor Bahru, this house embodies the essence of modern tropical architecture while ensuring functionality for contemporary family living. The design is a skilful blend of elements that not only withstand the relentless tropical sun but also promote excellent cooling and ventilation. Inspired by the region’s climatic challenges, the design harmoniously combines extensive woodgrain finishes with large glass windows. Woodgrain shutters are incorporated to allow controlled daylight penetration while shielding the interior from excessive solar heat gain. Native landscaping is framed through the glass openings and becomes an integral part of the interior composition, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing encloses the living room, allowing the surrounding greenery to visually flow into the house and creating a strong connection to the lush landscape while filling the interior with natural light. The outdoor pavilion, meanwhile, offers a refined interpretation of tropical living.

The swimming pool meanders elegantly along the perimeter of the house, promoting evaporative cooling and creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the outdoor spaces. Within the home, strategically positioned open areas encourage cross-ventilation while enhancing daylight penetration into the interior. Large striped roof finishes create a dynamic yet comfortable environment for indoor recreational and exercise spaces, while striped structural beams reinforce the purity and integrity of the overall design concept.
