Fat Frozen Headquarters

The new headquarters for Fat Frozen Food was envisioned as a departure from the conventional industrial aesthetic often associated with manufacturing and cold storage facilities. Rather than presenting a purely utilitarian image, the design embraces a contemporary architectural expression that creates a vibrant, welcoming, and people-centric environment, seamlessly integrating both office and production functions within a unified development.

The building is organised around two key components: the cold storage facilities and the office wing. At its heart, a double-volume reception lobby serves as a generous arrival space, creating an immediate sense of openness and transparency while reinforcing the company’s progressive corporate identity. Natural light, spatial clarity, and carefully considered proportions contribute to a workplace environment that is both functional and inviting.

Architecturally, the cold storage block is expressed through exposed insulated panels enclosed within a steel-framed roof structure, with carefully selected colour accents introducing visual rhythm and character to the façade. In contrast, the office wing adopts a refined contemporary language, featuring expansive curtain wall glazing and perforated metal screening elements. Together, these materials create a dynamic façade composition while maximising daylight penetration, enhancing occupant comfort, reducing reliance on artificial lighting, and supporting overall energy efficiency.

A key design consideration was the seamless transition between the operational requirements of the cold storage facilities and the administrative functions of the office spaces. Through careful planning and architectural integration, both components coexist harmoniously while maintaining their distinct functional identities.

The result is a contemporary industrial headquarters that elevates the traditional factory-office typology.
